Member States’ Developments

Belgium: The chemical company 3M has chosen to discontinue PFAS chemical manufacturing at its Zwijndrecht site in Belgium before the initially planned date (by the end of 2025). The cessation will occur by mid-year, and the reasons for this decision remain undisclosed.

France: Nicolas Thierry, a member of The Ecologists political party, has proposed establishing an inquiry commission on PFAS, expected to materialize in the second half of 2025.

Sweden: The Swedish Supreme Court has recently ruled in favor of residents affected by PFAS-contaminated drinking water in Ronneby municipality. This ruling, according to local media, may have a cascading impact on PFAS-related lawsuits.
